UX, Templates & Today Screen Update

Redesigned Today screen, 263-asset template library, tighter UI across all tabs, and new document features.

Version 1.1.1 is a significant UX update focused on reducing visual noise, surfacing actionable information on the Today screen, and making it faster to add assets with an intelligent template system.

Today Screen

  • Replaced the large hero card with a compact tappable status bar: Overdue · Upcoming · Out of Service · Assets.
  • Added Out of Service section. Unavailable assets now surface directly on the Today screen.
  • Added Warranty Watch section. Assets with warranties expiring within 90 days are shown sorted by soonest first.
  • Needs Attention now shows 5 reminders, up from 3, without the redundant pill row.
  • Removed the Quick Actions grid. Those actions are already in the toolbar and tab bar.

Asset Templates

  • New template library with 263 asset templates across 21 business types.
  • Business type selector available in Settings and inline in the Add Asset form via a compact picker.
  • Browse Templates sheet is searchable and grouped by category, filtered to the selected business type.
  • ~80 common assets include curated suggested reminders that are editable before saving and created automatically on save.
  • ~50 asset types pre-populate custom fields with labels and placeholder hints.

UI Improvements

  • Assets, Due, and all report screens: FixLog logo added to nav bar title. Empty large-title gaps fixed.
  • FixLog brand card removed from the top of Assets, Due, and all report screens.
  • Assets filters: 4 tall picker rows collapsed into a compact 2×2 chip grid.
  • Due reminder rows: compacted to 2 lines, roughly doubling visible reminders per screen.
  • Add Asset form: Manufacturer and Warranty sections collapse by default.
  • Reports tab: reorganized into Maintenance, Analysis, and Documents sections.
  • Maintenance trend chart: Spend is now green, Completed is purple.
  • "Critical:" prefix stripped from reminder titles in list views. The OVERDUE pill already communicates urgency. Data unchanged.

Documents

  • PDF attachment available directly in the Add Asset form (Pro).
  • "Attach Warranty PDF" button added inside the Warranty section on Asset Detail. Files are categorized as Warranty automatically.
  • Asset rows now show a document count badge when non-photo documents are attached.

Bug Fixes

  • Camera permission button changed from "Allow Camera Access" to "Continue" per App Store Guideline 5.1.1(iv).
  • Demo asset images now load from the bundled SampleAssetImages folder instead of low-quality base64 blobs.
  • Fixed crash when browsing templates caused by a duplicate dictionary key.
  • Replaced iOS 18-only SF Symbols with iOS 17-compatible equivalents.
  • Fixed empty Picker selection warning on first launch.

Added business setup direction with expanded sample data, cost tracking with charts, warranty countdown, storage management, and Pro purchase access from Settings.

  • Added expanded example data alongside the Mountain Peak Brewing sample.
  • Cost tracking with charts for spend by Space, location, vendor, type, and time.
  • Multi-select complete and delete on the Due screen.
  • Reminder completion logs to maintenance history by default.
  • Up to 10 photos per asset, storage management in Settings.
  • Warranty Countdown accessible through Assets and Reports.
